Impending Updates!
Got a lot of coding done this weekend. Comments are code-complete, as well as the beginnings of the anti-spam system. I've settled on Akismet, which seems both effective (from what I've been able to find via Google), and is super-damn-simple to use, even for my home-grown blogging system. All signs point to it being a great service. We shall see.
However, like I've said before, the core feature being implemented is just a small part of the work. (80/20 rule in effect?) So while I have an implementation of comments I'm happy with, and will soon (knock wood) have a spam-detection solution in Akismet, I still need to implement the moderation queue, RSS feeds, etc. Now that I'm pushing, it'll all happen pretty quick, so within a few days you'll get a look at my handiwork.
It is becomming clear, however, that I'm going to have to do a bit of graphical/layout reworking. I like my "dummy" styling for comments, but it just doesn't fit with the site. So I'll have to either rework the comments CSS, or rework the site. Gee, tough choice...
The more stuff I cram onto the page, the more I feel the lack of graphics. If used the way I envision, they'd really help make the page more scannable for the reader, and easier on the eye. At the moment there are too many quares, implied and actual. I need more curves, and more color.
