Biking, Climbing, Resting
Took my bike back out to the Las Llajas trail on Monday evening, and had a great time. I think my legs are starting to get it, and I'm definitely starting to find my groove. I'm maintaining speed better, and I'm getting comfortable (if not yet speedy) climbing from a standing position. Beats the hell out of spinning all day.
Last night saw a renewal of last Tuesday's training methods at the climbing gym. My partner and I set the rules as: do every climb between 5.7 and 5.10a on every rope in ascending order of difficulty. I think we got through about 6 ropes, with between 2 and 5 climbes on each one. Net result: this week I feel stronger than ever. A couple more weeks of this, then I'll start working seriously on 5.10c and 10d climbs.
Last night I tried to pick up again on rope #7, but we ended up bouncing around a bit, helping out with a belay test, and finally getting into a "running laps" groove late in the evening. I guess I got my workout, though; the last burn of three 20-foot 5.7/5.8 climbs nearly did me in.
Tonight, I run an easy lap around the block, strech thoroughly, and rest up. I have a Sister Wendy DVD from Netflix, and I'm just going to vegetate.
