Finding the Groove
Last night at Krav: warm-ups, leg lifts, sprint drills, knees, ground kicks, headlocks, and gun from the front defense. Brutal.
The good news: My core strength and cardio are getting to the point where I can keep up. I'm sore, but not completely drained. And in the sprint drill, I was never anywhere near falling on my ass.
When I really look at where I am, it's amazing how far I've come in just three months. I'm working out 5 days a week (biking, climbing, running, weights, Krav, hiking), but I'm sleeping well, I'm not over-tired, and I don't feel like I've been hit by a truck after Krav. The plan is working.
And that line in Fight Club about how after fighting, everything else in your life gets the volume turned down is absolutely true. Last night I was standing in a dark room with 20 other people, my eyes closed, waiting for someone to yell "GUN! GUN! GUN!" in my face to give me the signal to open my eyes and defend myself. Today, I'm not worried about fixing my car or going on vacation. I'll work it out.
