Taking a Rest Night
Krav class last night was a killer. After a short focus mitt warmup, we hit a nasty drill. Four two-minute rounds, no resting, like so:
- focus mitt: cross, left hook, cross.
- Sit facing partner with legs interlocked. Do sit-ups. After each sit-up, throw two punches.
- Back to your feet. Focus mitt: cross, right elbow, cross, left hook.
- Push-ups! After each push-up, slap your partner's hand (alternate hands). If you can't do any more push-ups from your toes, go to your knees. (I started strong here, but ended up basically on all-fours, doing more of a grovel than any kind of real push-up.)
After that, trade your gloves for focus mitts (or vice versa) and start over.
Today, I'm tired all over. Head to toe. Nothing left. So I've decided to skip tonight's hockey game. The puck drops at 10:30pm, so it's already late, and as tired as I am, I need to chill for a night. I don't like skipping a game when there are only four or five left in the season, but this just isn't the time to do three hard workouts in a row and skimp on sleep. The next 10:30 game is after Krav testing, so I'll be able to go easy that week.
I have the urge to spend the evening reading H.P. Lovecraft stories. So I'll stop by the book store on the way home.
Oh, and I've solved the mystery of my insomnia: I grabbed a jug of Arizona Iced Tea from the grocery store last week, and I've been enjoying a couple glasses with dinner each night. Primary ingredient: green tea.
Ditched the tea, slept like a baby. Hallelujah.
