Weekend Wrap-Up
I spent Friday night recovering from the toughest two weeks of Krav yet, and watching The Godfather for the first time. I wish I'd seen it sooner. Brando is breathtaking, and the rest of the cast really show their chops. It's fantastic.
Saturday was the final day of AIDS Life Cycle 6, so J and I went down to the V.A. center in L.A. to welcome Deanne home. She did an incredible job this year, helping others train as well as getting in shape herself. She's my new hero. Way to go D!
Timbo and I had plans for another "Timbo biathlon" on Sunday, and I decided to kick it up a notch: instead of riding from his house in T.O. to the climbing gym, I'd ride all the way from my place in Simi.
Not such a great plan. I underestimated the difficulty of the route I picked out, and pretty well cooked my legs before even getting half way to Timbo's place. (Note to self: First St. south of Royal is one giant climb all they way to Wood Ranch Pkwy.)
So I was pretty beat by the time I got home last night: more than three hours on the bike, plus a couple hours climbing.
But, I'm happy with my recovery: I chowed, slept, and I'm ready to kick ass again today. But I won't: I have another tough week of Krav and hockey ahead, followed by Level 1 testing on Saturday, so I'm saving my energy for where it's needed. Tonight I'm planning on relaxing with The Godfather, Part II.
