Getting Stuff Done
Since I've been giving my knee some time to heal, I've been skipping Krav and BJJ. This means a lot more time at home to get things done. (Plus a rest week for my body, which feels great.)
This week, I:
- loaded dozens of CDs into iTunes
- finished wiring my home theater system
- moved my networking gear to its new home atop my entertainment center
- rode 90 minutes at Chesebro Park
- did 7 loads of laundry
- cleaned my kitchen (incl. refrigerator)
- straightened up living room
- maintained my mountain bike
- made CDs of family vacation photos to be mailed today
- installed a bunch of helpful software on my laptop
- practiced guitar each night
For me, that's a hugely productive week. The night I took my bike out, I was home by 8pm, and did a few loads of laundry. On nights when I go to Krav Maga & Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I typically don't get home until after 9:30. I eat, check my email, watch some TV, and go to bed. And that's twice a week. That's a huge chunk of time to spend.
I plan to get back to Krav & BJJ next week, I have physical therapy appointments for Wednesday and Friday mornings. And I have a friend visiting from out of town. So I fully expect every day next week to be booked solid from 6am to 9:30pm or later. I'm not getting anything done around the house.
So, if I don't want to backslide into living in a pit, I've got to get organized this weekend. Sunday is going to be all about getting the house to where it'll take care of itself for a few days.
(And, in case you're wondering, the cardboard box above is a reference to an old Sandman comic, in which the God of Order appeared in the form of an empty cardboard box.)
