Knee Update
I saw my orthopedist this morning, and he wants an MRI. There are basically two reasons for this. First, the injury seems to be agravated by impact, rather than overuse. Second, the pain seems to be located right at the outside of the joint, rather than along the outside where the tendons/ligaments run. Put those together, and there's the possibility of a damaged meniscus.
So they're clearing the MRI with my insurance company, and I'll have some pretty pictures of my innards to show you in a week or two.
In the meantime, I'm off the hook for those wicked early-morning therapy sessions, which takes a lot of the pressure off this week. Back to life as usual... with the added possibility of eventual surgury, just to keep things spicy.
So, I get to do research surgical options. I am not happy about this possibility, and I'm hoping the MRI will reveal a healthy, springy meniscus.
In the meantime, I'm sticking to stretching exercises and low-impact activity. Thankfully, "low impact" includes just about everything I do normally except running.
Update: MRI is scheduled for Tuesday evening, and I'll have the results the following Tuesday.
