Braindump
Upcoming feature: geotagged images. I'm going to grab the timestamp from each image and consult the GPS data to find out where I was at that time. Maps of my hikes and trail rides will soon have little clickable icons that will pull up the pictures I took at that spot. Automagical!
Reading EXIF data from images is a pain. I will use Sanselan. JAI looks like good stuff, but uses a lot of native code that may or may not work. One of my unbreakable rules for this blog is that it be portable. So, pure Java it is. (Besides, I'll be stuffing the geo info in my database, so the performance hit will be a one-time event for each image. Acceptable.)
I ordered my iPod case six days ago, and paid for express shipping. UPS says it'll be here in another six days. It is listed as "on time." Meanwhile, a box o' stuff I ordered from Amazon the day before yesterday is already here. Bah.
My iPod is just so... damn... shiny. *beam*
Netflix is hostile. They provide no blogging tools. I will screen scrape their "recent returns" and "queue" pages and post "now playing" and "recent movies" listings here. I will. Oh yes... I will.
Google Maps is the bomb diggity. I have never before felt this level of affection for a piece of software. I have the warm fuzzies all over.
This ridiculousness makes me want to wear audio and video recording devices at all times, just in case I need the evidence later.
And Boing Boing Gadgets has posted the best gadget writeup EVER.
Oh, and I've got to update the title image in my RSS feed from the current "bad hair day" pic. It's old, it's done. Time for something snappier.
