Productivity
Did a lot of working from home last night. Learned a few things:
Quiet is good. My apartment is very quiet, while my cube at work is not. I've always felt that this makes a difference in my ability to focus (and consequently how much I get done), but now I have evidence to back it up.
My home chair is horrible. It's a $120 Office Depot special, and while it's fine for my usual stuff, I really noticed it's shortcomings last night. I'll be looking around for a used Steelcase Think to see if it's all they say it is.
Headphones at work are good. I'm getting a lot done this morning, partly because I'm covering the usual distracting office noise with some Boards of Canada: dreamy, few words, but enough of a groove to keep me in the zone. I may make headphones a regular thing at work, as long as people still feel I'm accessible.
