Strength Training Research

I've recently realized that I'm hitting the limits of what I know how to do with my training. I'm asking a lot from my body these days, and I have only basic knowledge of training theory and a decent toolbox of different exercises. But I lack what I need to put together a training routine that meets my performance and time commitment goals. I find I'm perpetually wandering between plateauing and overtraining, without really knowing where I'm at until I'm either bored or exhausted.

I've been reading Rippetoe and Kilgore's Practical Programming for Strength Training. I'm just 50 pages in ,but so far it is awesome. Solid theory, clear explanations, and pragmatic guidelines for measuring progress and planning a strength regimen.
