Focus on Recovery

I'm asking a lot of my body these days. I'm doing some kind of workout nearly every day. I'm having fun, but I've got to make sure I'm doing everything I can to help my body recover, or I'll end up just grinding myself into burned-out pulp.

So I've got a new post-workout routine: 440g of chocolate milk, 10-15 minutes of Yoga, and a 2g helping of Omega-3 fatty acids every night.

The net result is that don't get a post-workout crash, I stay limber, and I recover much, much faster and more completely between workouts. Hoo-rah!

The Yoga in particular is good stuff. I've been doing the last 10 minutes of the DVD that I got on Krav/BJJ nights when I get home. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is especially mentally and physically intense, and Yoga's combination of cool-down, stretching, breathing, and calm concentration really helps bring me back to earth. Net result: I get about another 90 minutes of sleep on Tuesday and Thursday nights. That's what I call a good time investment.
