Removing Incentives

Sorry, kids. Most of you have been very well behaved. But a few of you are evil, and have been abusing my comment system. The spam filter seems to have a failure rate (false negative, specifically) around 5%, which seems high to me. But I'm not inclined to write and train my own filter, so I'll take what I can get for now.

In the meantime, I'm stripping out all HTML tags in comments. Anything enclosed in < > will get stripped out. So there's no more incentive to spam here. For now.

I'm actually kind of curious what the next step in the arms race will be. Your move, spammers.

Readers' Comments

Alright. I've now gone a step further (since I assume that no actual person is checking to see if the spam is *displaying* correctly), and the system now disallows all HTML code. (Specifically, anything matching the regexp <[^>]*>.

We'll see if that helps.
