Hitting the Weights
I decided to skip Krav and BJJ last night. The notion of staying at work until 6:30, then doing a two-hour workout and arriving home exhausted and starving at 9:30 just wasn't working for me. So I left work at 6:00, hit the weights for 45 minutes, and was home eating dinner and watching House by 7:30.
My approach to weight lifting is simple: shred myself in 45 minutes or less. So last night was simple. Warmed up on the rowing machine, then:
- Squats: warm up set, then 3x5@175lbs
- Dumbbell chest press on a Swiss ball: 2x5@65lbs/arm (superset w/ dips)
- Dips w/ feet on Swiss ball: 2x10@bodyweight
- Walking lunges: 2x16@70lbs.
- Sack lifts w/ overhead press: 2x5@80lbs
- Low-to-high cable twists w/ squat: 2x8@40lbs.
The bad news is that my squat 1RM is 200lbs. The good news is that my form is improving. Getting nice and low these days.
Today I'm enjoying my post-workout energy rush, and looking forward to getting out of town for a couple of days: I'm headed for Las Vegas to see STP.
