Training Injuries

The Science of Sport has a great post today on The "Training Error:" The root of most injuries.

They take particular notice of the "zero to hero factor", where normally sedentary people take up a sport and go too big, too soon. (Sound familiar?)

For the record, injury has made me wiser, and on Monday night at the climbing gym, I knew when to say when. I finished a thin 5.10a, and followed up with a juggy, overhung 5.9, and I was done for the night. No overhung, grippy, technical .10a for me. No, Sir. I like my fingers. I'm glad I didn't go for that last climb: two days later, my fingers are still a little sore. (Good sore, though.)

A big, big part of training, especially as you start training more than two or three times a week, is learning to listen to your body.
