The Training Log is Dead
Well, it should be pretty obvious by now that I haven't been keeping up my training log. The last entry was for an (awesome) bike ride back in early May, just before I moved the site to a new server.
The server switch triggered some odd database connectivity issues that (for reasons I have not investigated) only affected the training log. And it's been so long since I worked on the Training Log code that just getting my IDE to build a new version so I can debug the problem was a time-consuming proposition.
Leave all that to simmer, and add:
- I already post all my GPS info and ride reports here
- I can't just upload info directly from my GPS/heart rate monitor, and instead must enter all the data manually
- I'm not doing anything with my training data; my workouts are driven by a desire to have fun, rather than improve general fitness
- There are lots of great training log web sites that are free, and far more full-featured than anything I could put together in my spare time.
All together, there just isn't much reason for me to spend the time to get my training log working again. It's just a bad time investment. And lately, my time is scarcer than ever.
