Fundamentals

I abandoned plans for a bike ride last night, and I'm glad I did. Instead, I went to my Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes. I figure that if I want to test for my orange belt in Krav soon, I'd probably better show up for class.

And BJJ was fantastic. We worked on passing guard (which is a serious weakness of mine), and there were a few new faces. Free grappling went very well. I just concentrated on fundamentals: posture, buck & roll, and passing guard. Everything's improving, but the biggest is posture: arch my back, keep my head up, sit back. Made all the difference in the world.

And Master Cox also announced an intro-level fight class starting next Monday. No details yet, but that's exactly what I've been looking for to step up my Krav training. Really exciting.

I left all my stuff packed from last night, and I'm headed out for a quick (1-hour) recovery ride tonight.
