Weekend Wrap-Up

Weekend Wrap-Up

Fun weekend.

Got lots of rest. Slept 10 hours Friday and Saturday nights, and didn't do anything physical. I'd have loved to get out on my bike, but there just wasn't time. Maybe next week.

Caught Kung Fu Panda, which was awesome. Highly recommended.

Also caught Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which was less awesome, but still fun. It's aimed squarely at kids, so don't expect too much. (Ahsoka keeps calling Anekin "Sky Guy." Ugh.) Still, Ahsoka standing on the front of that transport was pretty badass.

My girlfriend and I had a great morning in West Hollywood. We ate an amazing breakfast at Bread and Porridge, and cruised for new clothes. Unfortunately, it seems like Sunday afternoons are pretty quiet. Lots of closed shops. (I imagine everyone's still sleeping after another West Hollywood Saturday night.)

She found some really great new clothes, but came out with zip, so I just treated myself to a new Bikesmiths cycling jersey. It's damn pretty, and reminds me of college, which makes me happy.

I got the drive train on my mountain bike cleaned up last night. Not sure when I'll get to ride next, though. And in any event, the chain has stretched and need replacement. So a new one is on the way.

I'm on the hunt for a good sports drink. I need something with some fuel in it to keep me going through long workouts. I tried CarboRocket a while back, and loved it, but it's not as widely available as the alternatives, and I worry about quality control, actual contents, etc. A coworker recommended Cytomax, so I plan on trying that at some point. But as busy as I am, convenience counts for a lot. So I picked up a canister of Hammer HEED at lunch, and we'll see how I feel with that for a while.

Typical me: I ordered two bottles of vitamins last week online. And then I forgot that I bought them, so I bought two more bottles at the grocery store. Today, the first set of vitamins arrived in the mail. So... y'know, I'm pretty well set on vitamins for a while.

And I've set my phone to remind me to go to bed. At 10:15pm Sun. through Thurs. it plays the sound of crickets.

Provided I stretch after each workout, that takes care of my recent self-care action items, I think. Sleep, stretch, fuel, and vitamins. I've got all the tools I need.
