Music to Code By

Not a lot going on, but felt the need to report success in finding some great coding music.

I've been working my way down the list of artists featured on an excellent compilation called Blunted, so there will be more recommendations to come.

Readers' Comments

I've become a fan of techno for those times when lyrics might be intrusive (yes there is some techno/electronics with lyrics, pthbbbt!). I've rather enjoyed: The Crystal Method, The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Buckethead, Kenji Kawai, The Mighty Dub Kats, Orbital, Power of Seven, Propellerheads, St. Germain, Yuki Kajiura. I guess as far as genres go, I'm liking: Anime soundtracks, Deep House, and a smattering of other types that I don't know the labels of.

D'oh! And I forgot to link you to Naked Music: http://www.naked-music.com/

Adam Heinz turned me on to Naked Music, while I haven't dropped the $$ yet, I want to!

Yep, I remember him talking about Naked Music. I've cruised by a few times, always chickening out when it came time to make a choice. I guess I'm spoiled: the last time I was there, they didn't offer samples, and I'm really skittish about buying music unless I have an idea of what it'll sound like.
Sitting here running through samples of your suggestions on iTunes. Diggin' the Buckethead. Might just have to pick that up tonight...
Fav Buckethead: "Night of the Slunk" from the Monsters and Robots album.

And one more followup, read the Wil Wheaton blog entry on ambient music:

Will do. Also, I keep thinking that there has to be a way to let users post links without inviting the spam demons back. Something to think about...
