Forget About It

Forget About It

In my regular bike duffel, I have a stuff sack with emergency supplies. The stuff I typically forget, or need in a pinch: spare tubes (road and mountain), gloves, cheap sunglasses, and socks. It has saved several rides for me. Nothing like realizing you forgot to pack socks (Damn!), then realizing you have a backup pair in the bag (Damn right!).

Unfortunately, when you use what's in the backup bag, you have to remember to refill the backup bag. So today, I rode barefoot. Oh well. Bad idea on trails, but no big deal on road rides.

Oddly, these shoes are the first bike-related thing I'd replace if I had the disposable cash. They're heavy, they pinch my toes, and never stay properly tightened. And when I look down at them, I don't see the "M075" right side up. I see it upside-down: "5L0W". I'd love a sleek, well-fitted pair of Sidis to buckle into. Ones that didn't call me out on my substandard velocity. But honestly, I'd rather save that money for some new MTB shoes, because that time is coming.

My Specialized MTB shoes have been fantastic. When they die, I'm getting another set just like them. (Well, I'll try on some more supposedly-nicer ones just in case.)
