Video Playback on Linux

I'm trying to get my "backup" machine set up to display on my television. These links are here to help that effort.

I'm using an old Diamond Viper video card that has component video out, as well as s-video. The machine will display boot messages (including Mandrake's flavor graphics) to the TV, but X is clearly misconfigured. Why the HELL isn't there a checkbox somewhere that says, "NTSC" that correctly sets the proper mode? Eh? EH?

Fooey.

Anyway, helpful links, so that I don't have to run back and forth between computers:

Don't forget to try:
  • XF86Setup
  • 640x480 60hz 16bit color
