Weight Loss: Week 4
The next couple of days are going to be super-busy, so I'm checking in a day early. It's been a fair week for my efforts. Weighing in every night shows that I'm on track, down around 182.4 or so.
I hit a weird milestone this week. The weight training has been paying off, but it's also making my legs bigger. After doing laundry this week, I realized that while my waist is shrinking, my legs and butt no longer fit in my jeans, so I had to get new ones, with a "relaxed" fit.
Having the barbell in the garage has been fantastic. I don't think I'll ever join a big box gym again. My little $160 weight set is already better than any gym. No billing department, no rules (no shoes, no shirt, no problem), no packing a gym bag, no lockers, no driving, no crowds. Everything's already set up for me when I get there. And one of these days I'll plug in some speakers so I can play whatever music I want. It's workout nirvana.
And busy days that used to crowd workouts off the schedule don't even slow me down now. I can throw on some shorts, do the workout, clean up and be in my pajamas in under 40 min. It's great on the days I'm looking forward to the workout, and on the days I'm not, it leaves me with no excuse for not sticking with the plan.
Today's workout: the "hotel gym" version of a workout I stole from Randy Couture. He does it with a 50# barbell, I picked up two 20# dumbbells, which you can find in any hotel gym. 15 minutes later, I'm a sweaty, wobbly mess.
