Movie Attendance Down
The N.Y.T. is reporting movie
attendance is down for 13 weeks in a row. They attribute the
slide to increased competition from other media, such as the internet,
video games, and DVD.
But I think they missed an angle. There are plenty of reasons not to go to the movies any more. I used to go at least once a week. Now it's unusual to go more than once every 8 weeks or so.
Why? Because I'd rather just let Netflix deliver the movie to my living room, where there are no schedules, no crowds, no kids, no cellphones, no commercials, no lines, no bad seats, and I can eat and drink whatever I please. It's a no-brainer, really.
And now, I'm going to go devise a Starbucks name for myself.
