One of the CDs I got recently, Homunculus's Words, features
some kind of odd formatting that jams up my CD/DVD drive when I try to
put it in. The OS never gets a chance to see the data: the drive just
spins.
My CDs from Teagan & Sarah, Nine Inch Nails, Dave Matthews Band, The White Stripes, Audioslave, and The Diddy Bops have all filtered happily into heavy rotation on my morning and evening commutes. But that Homunculus disc sits on my computer, unplayed.
And that's a really stupid thing to do to your fans.
Now, at my house, the "analog hole" is pretty much lossless. All my audo/video gear has optical in/out, and so does my iRiver, which will rip an audio stream to high-quality MP3 on demand. So I'll just do that, when I have the time.
