Cisco tries "Security by Lawsuit"

By now, everyone's heard about Mike Linn and his rumble with his employer, IIS, and networking gear maker Cisco.

The short version: Lynn discovered serious security holes in Cisco's router software. He told Cisco, who did nothing about it. So he planned a presentation at the Black Hat security conference about it. Both Cisco and his employer, Internet Security Systems Inc., threatened Lynn with legal action if he gave that talk. In the end, he quit his job and gave the talk anyway.

For telling the truth, he was sued by Cisco, his employer, and is now being investigated by the FBI.

So, for your reading pleasure, here's his Mike Lynn's Black Hat talk as a PDF.
