          When stuff like that happens, it&#39;s hard not to feel a little violated and pissed. And it sucks. &lt;p&gt;But it&#39;s just stuff. In my case, it&#39;s kids destroying things, but that&#39;s the mantra I use. It makes it easier to move on, throw things out, replace only what needs replacing.&lt;p&gt;I&#39;m glad you have renters insurance that will cover it so you will get a new bike.

          Yep.  Exactly.  And this week I have one friend who was in a car crash (he&#39;s fine) and another who&#39;s been in the hospital for several days, and every time I turn on the news I see NOLA reenacted in Haiti.  So it&#39;s pretty hard to get worked up over a stolen bike, especially when I&#39;m insured and get to go shopping for a new one right away.
